Fun Learning: Peningkatan Literasi Dasar Siswa Melalui Aktivitas Permainan Interaktif
Abstract
This study aims to decribe the effectiveness of language games based on fun learning in improving the basic literacy skills of third-grade elementary school students. The research employed qualitative with desciption methods, including literacy tests, interviews, observations, and questionnaires. The participants were 29 third-grade students from an elementary school in Yogyakarta. The findings revealed that language games significantly enhanced students’ basic literacy and their reading and writing abilities. Interviews indicated that students felt more enthusiastic and engaged in enjoyable learning activities, while teachers observed improvements in students’ focus and participation during the learning process. Quantitative data from the questionnaires showed that 94.55% of students strongly agreed that language games helped them better understand basic literacy concepts. These findings align with active and collaborative learning theories, which emphasize the importance of social interaction and contextual learning activities. The implications of this study suggest that language games can serve as an effective approach to improving students’ basic literacy skills in elementary schools, fostering a more inclusive, enjoyable, and meaningful learning environment.
