PENGARUH MODEL PEMBELAJARAN KOOPERATIF TIPE THINK PAIR SHARE TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS

Abstract

This quasi experimental research aimed to know the influence of cooperative learning model of think pair share (TPS) type towards student’s conceptual understanding of mathematics. The population of this research was all students of grade VII even semester of SMP Negeri 2 Natar in academic year of 2012/2013 with 185 students that distributed into six classes. The samples were taken by purposive sampling technique and got VII E as experimental class and VII B as control class. The design of this research was posttest only control design. The research data was obtained by test of conceptual understanding of mathematics. Based on the result of data analysis, student’s conceptual understanding of mathematics of cooperative learning model of TPS type was better than conventional learning. Thus, it was concluded that cooperative learning model of TPS type influences student’s conceptual understanding of mathematics.

Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembel­ajaran kooperatif tipe think pair share (TPS) terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Popu­lasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII semester genap SMP Negeri 2 Natar tahun pelajaran 2012/2013 sebanyak 185 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam enam kelas. Sampel diambil dengan teknik purposive sampling dan diperoleh kelas VII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII B sebagai kelas kontrol. Desain penelitian ini adalah posttest only control design. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes pemahaman konsep matematis. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dengan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS lebih baik dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan model pembelajaran kooperatif tipe TPS berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
