Abstract

The Effectiveness of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) Learning Model Viewed from the Students' Understanding of Mathematical Concepts. This study aimed to find out the effectiveness of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning  model in terms of students' understanding in mathematical concepts. The population of this research was the students of X IPA at SMA Negeri 1 Seputih Surabaya in the second semester in academic year of 2018/2019 as many as 125 students and distributed into four classes. The research sample were all students of class X IPA 1 and X IPA 2 who were selected through purposive sampling. The design was used in this research was the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The data analysis of the research showed that the increasing of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who took Creative Problem Solving (CPS) was higher than increasing of student’ understanding of mathematical concepts who took conventional learning. The conclution of this study was the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) learning model was effective in terms of students’ understanding in mathematical concepts.
