Relevansi Kualitas Media Visual Dan Literasi Visual Siswa SMA Pada Konsep Sistem Pencernaan

Abstract


This study aimed to investigate quality of visual media, visual literacy and correlation both of them. The research method was correlational. Data of visual literacy was explored through visual literacy instrument and filled by each student after they interpreted the picture that was shown. The subject of this research is 39 students at senior high school which was considered have homogen characteristic. The result showed that according to lecturer, visual media that was used in high quality category, but in medium quality according student’s assesment. After two of data group was analyzed through correlation and regression technique, both of two variables have medium correlation and in the same direction. Meanwhile, determination coefficient and regression equation are 20% and Y = 0,1 + 0,78x. Therefore, selection and using visual media should be attended in order to visual literacy was be able by student in Biology learning.

 

Penelitian ini mengungkap kualitas media visual, literasi visual dan hubungan di antara kedua variabel tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah korelasional. Data literasi visual dijaring dengan menggunakan instrumen literasi visual dan diisi oleh tiap siswa setelah mereka menginterpretasi gambar yang ditampilkan. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 1 kelas IPA di SMA yang terdiri dari 39 siswa dan pemilihan kelas tersebut dianggap bahwa karakternya homogen. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kualitas media visual yang digunakan berkualitas tinggi menurut dosen dan berkualitas sedang menurut penilaian siswa. Setelah dianalisis menggunakan teknik analisis korelasi dan regresi, hasilnya menunjukkan kedua variabel tersebut memiliki korelasi pada kategori cukup (0,45) dan searah. Selain itu, koefisien determinasi dan persamaan regresinya adalah 20% dan Y = 0,1 + 0,78x. Oleh karena itu, pemilihan dan penggunaan media visual perlu diperhatikan agar literasi visual dikuasai oleh siswa dalam pembelajaran Biologi.
