Abstract

Reading skills−for foreign learners−still cause crucial problems. For this very reason, this research aimed to find out i) whether there was a significant improvement on students reading comprehension after being taught through small group discussion technique, and ii) which aspect that improves the most after being taught by this technique. This research used one group pre-test and post-test design. The data were collected from a pre-test and a post-test. The results of this study showed that there was significant improvement of students reading comprehension after being taught through small group discussion technique where the t-value was higher than t-table. It is proved that small group discussion technique is able to improve students’ reading comprehension. The second finding referred to determine main idea was the highest aspect that improved after implementing small group discussion technique.
