Teaching Listening Skill through TPR

Abstract


Abstract: Te aching lis te ning skill through TPR. The aim of this study is to f ind out i) whether there is statistically s ignif icant improvement of the students listening skill and ii) the students responses after the implementation of TPR. This research was quantitative research. The subjects of this research were 30 students of the first year of SMP Negeri

22 Bandar Lampung. Listening tests and questionna ires were administrated as the instrument of the research. The result showed that there was statistically signif icant improvement of the students listening skill w ith the signif icant leve l 0.05. There were various responses of the students on this method. But most of them gave pos itive responses. This suggests that TPR facilitates the students to develop English listening skills more easily.

Abstrak: Pengajaran ke te rampilan me nyimak me lalui TPR. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti i) apakah ada peningkatan pada keterampilan menyimak s iswa dan ii) respon s iswa setelah bela jar me lalui metode TPR. Penelitian ini adalah pene litian kuantitatif. Sasaran penelitian sebanyak 30 siswa pada tahun pertama di SMP Negeri 22 Bandar Lampung. Tes menyimak dan kuesioner digunakan sebagai alat untuk pengambilan data. Hasil pene litian menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan kemampuan mendengarkan siswa dengan tingkat signif ikansi 0.05. Para siswa menunjukkan berbaga i respon terhadap metode ini. Tetapi kebanyakan dari mereka menunjukkan respon yang positif. Hal ini menandakan bahwa metode TPR memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan mendengarkan dalam bahasa Inggr is dengan lebih mudah.
