In 2013–2019, the Journal of Geography Research (JPG) was published seven times a year, with ten articles per issue. However, to improve the quality and maintain the consistency of publications, since 2020 the journal has been limited to two issues per year, each containing ten articles.
In March 2025, JPG (Volume 13, Issues 1–2) temporarily migrated to a new website at https://jips.fkip.unila.ac.id/index.php/JPG/index as part of a system merger with Jurnal Ilmiah Pendidikan Sosial (JIPS). Previously, the journal had been hosted on https://jurnal.fkip.unila.ac.id/index.php/jpg/index.
Due to technical issues during the upgrade from OJS 2 to OJS 3 — including system errors and hacking incidents — JPG decided to permanently move to a new platform. As of October 2025, the official and active website of JPG is https://jpips.fkip.unila.ac.id/index.php/JPG/index.
Starting from Volume 13 (Issue 1–2) and subsequent issues, all publications are hosted on this new website. Meanwhile, older archives (Volume 12 Issue 2 and earlier) remain accessible on the previous site: https://jurnal.fkip.unila.ac.id/index.php/jpg/index.
