IMPLEMENTASI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER MELALUI KEGIATAN EKSTRAKURIKULER PADA PENDIDIKAN DASAR
Abstract
Character education is a process of organizing education aimed at making humans perfect. Character education should be provided in the school environment, especially at the elementary education level. Strengthening character education can be integrated into both classroom and extracurricular learning. This research aims to determine how character education is implemented through extracurricular activities at SMP Plus Darul Ilmi Murni. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data analysis techniques including reduction, collection, presentation, and conclusion of data. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of character education through extracurricular activities at SMP Plus Darul Ilmi Murni includes various activities such as scouting, swimming, sports (soccer, basketball, futsal, rock climbing), arts (dance, drama), martial arts, student organizations, and marching band. These activities are conducted with the practice of reciting the basmalah and prayers at the beginning, and the instructors or coaches always provide motivation to the students to participate in the activities. They also provide understanding about the meaning and benefits of the activities, enforce praise and sanctions for students during the activities, serve as role models in applying the values of character education, and require appropriate attire that covers the aurat during participation in the activities.
