EFEKTIVITAS PROBLEM BASED LEARNING DITINJAU DARI PEMAHAMAN KONSEP MATEMATIS SISWA

Abstract


This quasi experimental research aimed to know the effectiveness of problem based learning in terms of students understanding of mathematical concepts. The design which was used was posttest only control design. The population of this research was all students of grade eight of Junior High School of 12 Bandarlampung in academic year of 2015/2016 with total 289 students which was distributed into twelve classes. The samples of this research were students of VIII-A and VIII-B class that were determined by purposive random sampling. The data of students understanding of mathematical concepts were obtained by essay test. Based on the result and discussion of this research, it was concluded that the implementation of problem based learning was not effective in terms of students understanding of mathematical concepts but it was better than conventional learning.

Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas problem based learning ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Desain yang digunakan adalah posttest only control design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP 12 Bandarlampung tahun pelajaran 2015/ 2016 dan sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII-Adan VIII-B yang ditentukan dengan teknik purposive random sampling. Data pemahaman konsep matematis siswa diperoleh melalui tes uraian. Berdasarkan hasil dan pembahasan penelitian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa penerapan problem based learning tidak efektif ditinjau dari pemahaman konsep matematis siswa tetapi lebih baik dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional.
