Adaptasi Seniman Jalanan di Surabaya: Respon Kreatif Terhadap Pembatasan Grafiti dan Penciptaan Mural Tematik

Abstract


Fenomena seniman jalanan di Surabaya mengalami dinamika signifikan akibat pembatasan grafiti oleh pemerintah kota dan pengenalan mural tematik sebagai alternatif ekspresi seni di ruang publik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi bagaimana seniman jalanan Surabaya beradaptasi secara kreatif terhadap kebijakan tersebut. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan etnografi, melibatkan wawancara mendalam, observasi langsung, dan analisis dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pembatasan grafiti memicu pergeseran pola kreasi seniman jalanan, dari karya spontan yang cenderung subversif ke mural tematik yang lebih terstruktur dan sesuai regulasi. Adaptasi ini mencakup kolaborasi antara seniman, komunitas, dan pemerintah untuk menciptakan karya seni yang tidak hanya estetis, tetapi juga edukatif dan relevan dengan isu sosial budaya lokal. Meskipun demikian, beberapa seniman merasa bahwa mural tematik membatasi kebebasan ekspresi mereka, sehingga tetap memanfaatkan ruang-ruang tersembunyi untuk mempertahankan karakter asli grafiti. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa respon kreatif seniman jalanan tidak hanya merefleksikan kemampuan mereka untuk beradaptasi, tetapi juga mengindikasikan pergeseran peran seni jalanan sebagai media komunikasi sosial di ruang publik. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat mendorong dialog yang lebih konstruktif antara seniman, masyarakat, dan pemerintah dalam mengelola ruang publik sebagai wadah ekspresi seni yang inklusif dan dinamis.
