Kritik sosial dalam novel Dinner With Philosophy karya A. Pradipta (kajian sosiologi sastra ian watt)

Abstract


This research is motivated by a form of social problem in the novel Dinner With Philosophy with the relationship between problems that are in accordance with social reality. The purpose of this study is to be able to describe the social function of literature in the form of social criticism, factors of social criticism, and representation of social criticism in the novel Dinner With Philosophy. The form of the research method uses a qualitative method with data sources from the novel Dinner With Philosophy. The theory used is Ian Watt's sociology of literature which focuses on the author and the literary work itself. The problems raised in this study are related to (1) the author's background, (2) the form of the author's social criticism of social problems, (3) social criticism related to social problems contained in literary works. Then the results of the discussion found were the social function of literature in the form of 1) Aspects related to women regarding freedom in any case because in reality everyone has rights over themselves, 2) Aspects of boredom experienced by office workers who on the other hand also flock to seek attention to high positions to get what they want, 3) Aspects of inequality in social life in society and aspects of betrayal in a plagiarism of a work of art made by someone else. This research is expected to provide a study of literary criticism that encourages society to always apply something that does not harm themselves and others, such as normalizing each person, both women and men, for themselves in any case, always believing in yourself and a work ethic that needs to be improved, inequality in society is a natural trait and do not commit plagiarism in any case.
