THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STUDENT TEAM ACHIEVEMENT DIVISIONS (STAD) TECHNIQUE IN SPEAKING CLASS
Abstract
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menganalisis penerapan STAD dalam kelas berbicara, (2) untuk mengetahui pendapat siswa selama penerapan STAD dalam kelas berbicara, dan (3) untuk mengetahui masalah yang siswa hadapi dalam kelas berbicara. Penelitian ini qualitative descriptive yang menggunakan paradigma self reflective teaching. Sasaran dari penelitian ini adalah siswa SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung kelas X.4 yang berisi 37 siswa. Pengamatan, kuesioner dan wawancara dilaksanakan untuk memperoleh data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa hampir seluruh komponen STAD diterapkan dengan baik, siswa merespon dengan positif, dan siswa menghadapi masalah khususnya dalam konteks vocabulary and comprehensibility. Bagaimanapun, bisa disimpulkan bahwa STAD menjadi salah satu teknik yang tepat dalam kelas berbicara.
The aims of this research were (1) to analyze the implementation of STAD in speaking class, (2) to find out the students’ opinions during the implementation of STAD in speaking class, and (3) to find out the problems students encountered in speaking class. This was qualitative descriptive research which used self reflective teaching paradigm. The subject of this research was the students of SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung in X.4 class consisting of 37 students. Observation, questionnaire and interview were carried out in order to gain the data. The results of this research showed that most components of STAD were well implemented, students responded positively, and students encountered problems especially in terms of vocabulary and comprehensibility. However, it could be concluded that STAD became one of appropriate techniques in speaking class.
