The use of LRD strategy to improve student’s reading comprehension in English narrative text at the third grade of SMPN 3 Jati Agung

Abstract


This research aimed to investigate whether there was an improvement in student’s reading comprehension before and after being taught through LRD strategy and find out their response toward the strategy. This research conducted at SMPN 3 Jati Agung academic year 2019/2020, with the total number of samples was 32 third grade students. The data collected by using multiple choice and questionnaire. To analyze quantitative data, the researcher used t-test while qualitative data applied scale Likert. The result showed there was an improvement in student’s reading comprehension after being taught through LRD strategy with the significant level <0.05. The students also agreed this strategy was easy to follow in the lesson to understand the materials. It can be concluded LRD strategy makes a positive impact on student’s reading comprehension.
